Children & Youth
After-school programs, Summer Literacy Camps, and Reading Clubs for children and youth aged 4 to 17, wherever our community partners are located. Please note that many children’s programs are connected to pre-existing programs and do not have open admission.

Homework Clubs
Supportive spaces where children and youth can complete assignments, build study skills, and receive guidance from trained volunteers.

Programs that help learners strengthen numeracy skills, problem-solving, and confidence with numbers through interactive activities and support.

One-to-One and Group Tutoring
Personalized or small-group learning sessions where trained volunteers support learners in areas such as reading, writing, numeracy, language learning, or other essential skills based on their goals.

Online Learning Sessions
Free virtual literacy and essential skills programs that provide flexible learning opportunities for children, youth, and adults across Canada.

Reading Circles
Group learning activities where participants practice reading, language skills, and communication through shared reading, conversation, and storytelling.

Reading Tents
Community literacy events that bring books, reading activities, and literacy awareness into public spaces to encourage a love of reading.

School Reading Support
School-based partnerships where trained volunteers work with students to build reading confidence, comprehension, and foundational literacy skills.

Summer Literacy Camps
Free summer programs that help children build literacy skills through engaging activities, games, and learning opportunities while encouraging a lifelong love of learning.
Adults
One-to-one tutoring, workplace training, financial literacy, and digital literacy programs for adults who want to strengthen their skills at their own pace.

Adult Literacy and Essential Skills
Programs that support adults in building foundational reading, writing, numeracy, digital, and language skills needed for everyday life, employment, and personal goals.

CAEC Tutoring
Free learning support for adults and out-of-school youth preparing for the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC), including support to build the skills and confidence needed to achieve their education goals.

Workplace Literacy & Essential Skills (WLES)
Customized literacy and essential skills training to help employees strengthen communication, numeracy, digital, and workplace skills needed for success on the job.

Coaching, resources, and support that help partner organizations incorporate literacy and learning activities into their existing services.

Parent Workshops
Sessions that provide parents and caregivers with strategies, resources, and activities to support children’s literacy development while strengthening family learning.

Personalized or small-group learning sessions led by trained volunteers that allow adults to focus on their individual goals, such as improving reading, writing, numeracy, digital skills, or language confidence.

Every Program Is Co-Designed in Partnership With Local Community-Led Organizations.
We do not deliver one-size-fits-all programs. Partners inform us of the community’s needs and help us reach the learners. United for Literacy brings literacy expertise and resources. We work with schools, libraries, and other organizations to create immediate, sustainable solutions.
